Pass the Tag: A Tipping Tournament
Collab.Land introduces Pass the Tag, a live tipping tournament built on SmartTag 2.0, our next iteration of in-chat, onchain transactions.
This is a short, competitive game designed to do two things at once:
- Give community members a fun, social way to play together
- Put SmartTag 2.0 into real-world conditions and see how it performs
For four days, players will coordinate, compete, and move value through the system. Tips fly. Leaderboards shift. Strategy matters.
Tournament Overview
Pass the Tag is a 96-hour onchain tipping tournament hosted entirely inside Discord.
Players compete by sending as many successful onchain tips as possible using SmartTag 2.0. Every player starts with the same amount. To keep tipping, you’ll need to receive tips from others.
This creates a live social loop:
- Hoarding slows you down
- Circulation keeps you competitive
- The leaderboard moves as players interact
At the end of the tournament, the top three players win prizes.
This is also a live product test designed to evaluate:
- User experience and interaction flows
- Load and traffic handling for in-chat onchain transactions
- Scoring logic and leaderboard mechanics
SmartTag 2.0 introduces a new smart address key management system, powered by TACo, making these transactions seamless inside chat.
Tournament Schedule
Start: January 29 at 9:00 AM Eastern
End: February 2 at 9:00 AM Eastern
Duration: 96 hours (4 days)
The timing allows players across multiple time zones to participate while keeping the competition tight and active.
How the Game Works
Scoring
Players are ranked based on the number of successful onchain tips sent during the tournament window.
- Only completed, successful onchain transactions count
- Failed or reverted transactions do not count
To continue sending tips, players must receive tips from other players. This is intentional. The game rewards participation, coordination, and momentum.
Tiebreakers (in order):
- Total number of successful tips sent
- Number of unique players tipped
- Time of first qualifying tip (earlier ranks higher)
There are no shared placements. These rules exist only to resolve edge cases.
Player Wallets and Commands
- Each selected participant will receive a wallet pre-funded with $10 USDC before the tournament begins
- No additional setup is required
- Instructions for tipping and tournament-related commands will be shared in the tournament server prior to launch
Players may only use:
- The funds provided at the start of the tournament
- Funds received from other players via in-game tips
Using external funds, personal wallets, or any other source during the tournament may result in disqualification.
Prizes
A total prize pool of $250 USDC will be awarded:
- 1st place: $125 USDC
- 2nd place: $75 USDC
- 3rd place: $50 USDC
Rankings are final once the tournament ends and all ties are resolved.
